We encourage you to be the creator of your own career story!
Unlike some professional degrees like Engineering and Business, few careers in German fit into conventional trajectories and career paths. We will explore some of these more traditional professions here, but encourage you to keep in mind that your degree in German has equipped you with important transferable skills that prepare you for many areas in emerging sectors. As part of the Humanities, the German major or minor emphasizes discussion, researching information and formulating a cogent position, careful reading and interpreting of texts, images, and other media in active engagement. Most traditional and emerging careers require excellent critical thinking skills, strong research skills enhanced by excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German.
In addition to the traditional professions, keep in mind that your degree in German has equipped you with important transferable skills that prepare you for many areas in emerging sectors. MSU offers a wealth of resources to help you with your job search.
